Sisca is a beautiful, loving, VERY chill 7 year old Black Shepherd. She likes walks and to be petted. She is good with other dogs and kids (was around grandkids in her former home). Sisca is in great health other than she is overweight at 113 lbs. She’s recently had incontinence issues which CARE for PETS (CFP) has addressed.

Sisca and another dog were owned by a woman who is now in prison. The woman left the dogs with her elderly parents. They both have health issues and could no longer care for Sisca and her sister. The dogs’ grandparents called CARE for PETS in late June asking for help to rehome them by July 10 as the grandma, the primary caregiver, was having hip replacement surgery. We simply didn’t have enough time, so off to Winnebago County Animal Services they went.

CFP continued to work on placement. The other dog is with another rescue, with Sisca going to a foster to adopt thru CFP.  The foster to adopt home has a 2 year old child and a 6 month old large, hyper pup who wants to play with Sisca and jumps on her trying to initiate that play. Both have proven to be a bit much for Sisca and the situation too much for the foster. Sisca started having incontinence issues …. we had urinalysis, blood work, ultrasound for stones done, all good. She is starting meds for the incontinence.
NorthStar is providing mutual assistance and is accepting either adoption or foster applications for this beautiful dog.  Sisca is fully vetted, housetrained and needing a slightly quieter home environment.  Find our adoption app here –  or our foster application here –
