Roxy is a GSD mix six year old female dog. She comes to NorthStar WI from a local shelter after being surrendered by her owners due to a weight restriction at their apartment complex.
She is a total sweetheart and likes being around her female people in the family and does very well with my 3 year old, and LOVES car rides! Because she came from an apartment environment, it seems like she does not know what to do outside. She is housetrained, but often will only venture outside if I go out with her, or stand just outside our door and wait for her (even if our dog is outside). She really seems like she wants to play (and has a playful attitude), but acts like she just doesn’t know how to (poor girl)! She gets very excited when the leash comes out and does well on walks, even though she does pull a little bit.
She is fine being in a crate, but we never crate her; she doesn’t need to be crated. She does very well having the run of the house, even when we are gone all day.
She does exhibit some fearfulness around men and we continue to work on this. Other than that, she has settled in well with her foster family and seems to be a happy dog—one who almost always has a smile on her face and a kiss to give!
Roxy is up to date on medications, heartworm negative, spayed and available for adoption.
