Although Calla’s vetwork states her age anywhere between 1 and 3 years, this girl still has a lot of puppy left in her. She loves attention, treats and toys (possibly in that order). She can play fetch for hours and is getting very good at dropping the ball, especially in exchange for treats. Oh, and she’s completely house trained. She hasn’t had a single accident since she arrived, not one.
She is still working on her manners, crate training, and adjusting to her new life. In the short time I’ve had her, she’s shown incredible resilience and a zest for life that can’t be beat. She wants a home badly, and will reward you with boundless amounts of love and entertainment. She also has the cutest soft little snores when she falls asleep. 🙂
Since Calla is still working on honing her manners, she would like a family who understands rescues and has the time to work with her. Calla is a smart cookie and learns very quickly, and would like a home where she can continue her education. She needs appropriate introductions to new people, but then she’s fast friends and just wants to get cuddles, play tug and show off all her toys as long as they’ll let her.

We are still getting to know Calla and her comfort level with other dogs. Living with another dog will need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis, but she would be happiest as the only pet while she learns her doggy manners and regains her confidence. She seems to want to be dog friendly, but other dogs make her anxious at this time. I think cats would be asking too much of her.
Due to Calla’s energy level and playfulness, she would do best with a yard. She’s a very sweet and gentle girl (takes treats gently and will drop a toy in response to “OW!” with a look of “what happened?!”), but her happy tail and  excitement would be too much for younger kids.  She needs to work on her leash training, but I have taken her on a jog and she did very well when not distracted. She would love to be someone’s running partner eventually. 🙂
